Two years ago Hurricane Katrina dealt the Gulf Coast an unprecedented hand of destruction. Today the spirit of Coast residents remains as strong as ever as the recovery efforts continue. While the appearance may have changed, the people are what make the area so special and the progress proves the people are building the Coast back better than ever before.

All of South Mississippi is enjoying a robust economic recovery. The Governor's Two Year Report states that Mississippi is experiencing a significant expansion of the state's economic infrastructure. Unemployment rates continue to drop, sales tax revenues are setting records in several municipalities and small businesses are returning. With employment levels now above pre-Katrina levels, Mississippi's economic recovery is in full swing. (Read the full report.)
